preface

As part of the college team project, I designed way-finding and navigation for College of Engineering, Pune (COEP).

about coep

College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) was established in 1854 and is one of the oldest engineering colleges in Asia, after College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai (1794) and IIT Roorkee (1847). The college was one of the first few colleges established by the British to serve the Indian subcontinent.

  • Design of indoor & outdoor signages
the deliverables

We designed and printed a detailed Wayfinding Manual as a guideline on the usage of the signage systems. The Manual, as shown below, is also a documentation of the process followed and the final output.

Overview of the indoor & outdoor signages we designed.
Final Orientation Map

We conceptualised a visual identity around the British ‘shield’ as seen in the COEP logo. We designed name-tags for each department that COEP houses and developed an entire visual language around the concept.

Based on this visual language, we also designed pictograms for use on indoor signages.

We documented the expected sizes and materials of the given signages, as shown in the Wayfinding Manual.
